Preparations have already started for the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Poised to be one of the biggest COD releases in recent years, Infinity Ward is making it easier for fans to get ready.
And for those hoping to jump into the Modern Warfare servers as soon as the game arrives on October 25, developers Infinity Ward has made it possible to preload the game.
This allows gamers to download the full game onto their console so that when the release time does arrive, they can be ready.
Modern Warfare preload options are now live on PS4 and Xbox One, but it should be noted that it’s only an option for those who have digitally pre-ordered the game.
But even after downloading the game, fans will still need to know precisely when servers will be going live on October 25.
CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE RELEASE DATE AND TIME
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is launching worldwide on Friday, October 25, 2019.
And the official release time for consoles look set to be the same in nearly all regions. For Call of Duty fans in the UK, the Modern Warfare release time has been set for midnight on October 25.
That means if you have preloaded the game and have a fast connection to download the day one patch, you should be playing straight away.
But things are going to be a little different for Call of Duty fans in North America.
If you have bought the game digitally, it looks like servers will be going live on October 24, at around 6pm, PST.
This was confirmed in some recent Facebook Ads and it also lines up with how Activision has conducted COD launches in the past.
When it comes to the PC release, Call of Duty Modern Warfare will become playable in the UK at around 2am, BST, on October 25.
For retail buyers, a lot of large stores will be making it possible to pick up your pre-ordered copy of MW on October 24.
This has been confirmed for several retailers in the United States, and it will be worth checking with UK stores like GAME, to see if they are following suit.
As an example, Best Buy will make it possible to drop in at 9pm local time to grab your copy, the day before it launches.
It follows news that Modern Warfare will be adopting a Battle Pass and will not feature the same kind of DLC packages found in other COD games.
Infinity Ward has confirmed that the new Battle Passes will only include cosmetic content and all guns will be available to unlock via normal gameplay.
“The Battle Pass System for Modern Warfare will not launch when the game releases on October 25th,” a message from Infinity Ward confirms.
“Here’s why: First and foremost, we are all focused on making the Day One experience awesome.
“Second, it’s important to us that everyone who is playing Modern Warfare has the chance to work their way through the new game and unlock all the rewards that are waiting for you. We expect to launch this system for Modern Warfare later this year.
“Understandably there are still questions around how the economy will evolve throughout the post-launch, live seasons.
“We recognise this will take time to fully demonstrate. Please know we are committed to delivering a fair system guided by the principles we’ve outlined here, and will continue to monitor feedback and player engagement to help us achieve that goal.”
