Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele could be on the move to Barcelona this summer, despite only arriving at Spurs ahead of the current season. Barca boss Quique Setien is looking for a midfielder with legs, and believes the former Lyon star could fill the role.
Ndombele arrived at Spurs as the club’s record signing in the summer, after arriving for £54million.
But, his season has so far been broken up by a series of injuries and fitness problems.
However, Barcelona could still make a move for the France international during the summer transfer window.
He could bought as a direct replacement for either Ivan Rakitic or Arturo Vidal, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Tottenham manager singled out Ndombele for criticism after Spurs’ 1-1 draw against Burnley at the start of March.
Mourinho claimed that he needed to see more from the midfielder, and was hooked at half-time during the clash.
“In the first half we didn’t have a midfield,” said Mourinho, as Ndombele lined up alongside youngster Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park.
“Of course, I’m not speaking of Skipp because he’s a kid of 19 who’s played two hours in the last few days. I don’t criticise him at all.
“But I’m not going to run away and I have to say he [Ndombele] has had enough time to come to a different level.
“I know the Premier League is difficult, and some players take a long time to adapt to a different league.
“But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us.
“Especially when you see how Lucas [Moura], [Giovani] Lo Celso and those players are playing. I was expecting more in the first half from him.”
