Today the first new No Time To Die trailer in months was released. With the James Bond film having originally been set to launch in April, the latest footage is very much a rehash of what’s already been teased, aside from a few new scenes and shots. But it turns out that dubbed trailers for Daniel Craig’s fifth and final James Bond movie revealed a big spoiler. WARNING – POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD.
The English language version of the new No Time To Die trailer has Bond said: “I’ve met your new Double-O”.
As he says this, Craig shares scenes with Lashana Lynch’s Nomi, heavily implying she’s a new Double-O agent.
But rumours have been rife for a long time that she’s the new 007, after Bond retired to Jamaica for five years.
And according to Bond news site MI6 HQ, both the Spanish and Italian dubbed trailers have Craig saying: “I’ve met your new zero zero seven.”
If Nomi is 007 that is indeed a big blunder for the No Time To Die publicity team.
Plus with theories rife that Bond will die, could she be taking over 007 permanently going forwards?
Well, franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has said in interviews that while they’re open to a lead of any ethnicity, Bond will always be a man as Ian Fleming intended.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Nomi 007 won’t get her own spin-off before Bond is rebooted again after Craig’s tenure concludes in No Time To Die.
No Time To Die’s synopsis reads: “Five years after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, James Bond has left active service.
“He is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist.
“When it becomes apparent that Obruchev was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before.”
Meanwhile, original James Bond Sir Sean Connery turned 90 last month and former 007s have paid tribute to the star.
Connery’s replacement George Lazenby said: “Sean, for me, was always the man. I walked in his footsteps.
“I had to look and dress like Sean Connery. I went to his barber’s and tailors.
“I had no fear when I went up for the role. He was the guy who inspired me to never hesitate.
“Another thing we have in common is that we’re both family men. So best wishes to Lady Connery, your kids and grand kids and stay safe. Love George x.”
While 90s Bond Pierce Brosnan wrote: “Happy 90th birthday Sir Sean Connery.
“I was eleven years old in 1964, just off the plane from Ireland when I saw Goldfinger at the ABC cinema on Putney high street.
“You were my Bond of inspiration.”
No Time To Die is currently set for UK release on November 12, 2020.
