F1 Italian Grand Prix qualifying LIVE: Updates as Lewis Hamilton eyes pole at Monza | F1 | Sport

Hamilton is chasing a seventh World Drivers’ Championship to draw level with the legendary Michael Schumacher.

The six-time world champ is also hunting down Schumacher’s all-time record of 91 wins in Formula 1.

Victory at Monza would move him to 90, and starting at the front of the grid would be a major boost ahead of Sunday’s race.

Hamilton could only finish fifth in FP3 timesheets, however, with team-mate Valtteri Bottas, McLaren duo Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris, and Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo setting faster laps.

Ricciardo could not finish FP3, however, after a mechanical issue brought his session to a premature end, which left his mechanics needing to get to work ahead of qualifying.
