Liverpool transfer news: Thiago snaps at transfer question and hints he could stay put | Football | Sport

Thiago insists he has not told anybody he will leave Bayern Munich when asked for clarity on his future. The Spain international was facing the media ahead of the Nations League clash with Ukraine tomorrow but could not avoid questions about where he will be playing his football next season.

The star helped Bayern Munich win the Champions League two weeks ago with a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon.

He does not intend to sign a new contract with the German champions following talks at the start of the year.

Thiago was allegedly ready to put pen to paper on a new deal before having a change of heart.

Bayern want to sell him this summer and do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer a year down the line.

“I have not told anyone that I’m leaving,” Thiago said.

“Every year, they put me in a different club. For me my future is tomorrow’s game (against Ukraine) and there is nothing more to say.

“I neither care nor am I interested. What interests me is tomorrow.”

Ronald Koeman wants to bring his compatriot to Catalonia as part of his new Barca project.

Wijnaldum has just nine months remaining on his Liverpool deal and there is every chance he could join Barcelona.

The Reds would then be expected to sign Thiago to plug the gap and bolster their midfield options. If they don’t move soon though, Manchester United could hijack the deal.

Reports in Norway claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already spoken to the player about a potential move to Old Trafford. Thiago’s future is set be resolved after the international break.
