New York mass shooting: ’16 people shot’ as major incident declared in Rochester | World | News

It has been reported that someone opened fire at a backyard party in Rochester in upstate New York. No arrests were immediately made. The incident began just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Several people at the party called 911 to report the shooting.

When police arrived around 100 people were gathering outside.

Interim Police Chief Mark Simmons said tat when police arrived they found a “chaotic scene” with multiple victims.

He added: “It appears to be some type of backyard party that the police department, up until the point the 911 calls came in for the shots fired, was not aware of.”
