Omarosa Manigault Newman, former political aide to Mr Trump, detailed the President’s relationship with Mrs Trump in a book from 2018 called ‘Unhinged’. Now rumours have spread rapidly the First Lady is looking to ditch her husband in the wake of Mr Trump’s election defeat to Joe Biden. The First Lady married Mr Trump in 2005, and obtained her American citizenship in 2006.
Ms Newman, in her book, said the “vindictive” Mr Trump would attempt to deport Mrs Trump should she try and divorce him.
She said: “Since Donald is fully aware of how ever she acquired her permanent citizenship, he could, if there were anything fishy around it, expose the methods and somehow invalidate it.
“He is a vindictive man, and I would not put anything past him.”
But Ms Newman also added: “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.
“If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her.”

The First Lady’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, has rubbished Ms Newman’s comments and her book’s account of the White House under Mr Trump.
In August, she lashed out at the former advisor and said: “Mrs Trump rarely, if ever, interacted with Omarosa.
“It’s disappointing to her that she is lashing out and retaliating in such a self-serving way, especially after all the opportunities given to her by the President.”
Sarah Sanders, the President’s former press secretary, also rubbished Ms Newman’s account, and said her book was “riddled with lies and false accusations”.

Ms Newman also said on ITV’s Lorraine last month that the Trumps’ relation was “very strange”, with them going hot and cold on each other frequently.
She added: “I’m very cautious to comment on the dynamics of a marriage because you never know what goes on behind closed doors.
“But I have known this couple since they were dating, they got married a year after The Apprentice aired.
“What I have observed in the last 17 years would make your head spin. Sometimes they like each other but sometimes she is repulsed by him.”

The President has refused to concede the contest to his Democrat rival, and has launched a series of lawsuits in states to try and overturn the result.
Mr Trump has regularly said the election was “rigged” due to mail-in ballots being used to “fraudulently” cast votes, but the President has no evidence for his claims.
He also said on Twitter yesterday: ““He only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA.
“I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”

Both Mrs and Mr Trump have also rubbished claims that they are in a “transactional marriage”.
Mary Jordan, author of a biography on Mrs Trump, has said: “Love is complicated, and Trump love is ultra-complicated.”
She claimed they spend much of their time apart “and yet, she’s the first call he makes after a speech or a rally, because he trusts her – he doesn’t trust many people – and she watches on TV.
“So they have a very unusual relationship, but there is a bond there: they have a deal, right from the beginning.
“He loves himself, he loves his job, he’s got his own life and he spends a lot of time apart from her. And she’s absolutely fine with that.”
