Man Utd news: Amad Diallo boards flight to complete Manchester United paperwork | Football | Sport

Amad Diallo is on his way to Rome to sign paperwork that will give him the green light to travel to England to complete his Manchester United transfer. The Atalanta forward is set to join up with his new team-mates this month after a deal worth up to £37million was agreed back in October.

Diallo has had to bide his time though and show patience while United finalise the paperwork involved in the deal.

He has spent the first half of the season with Atalanta but is now ready to join the Red Devils and begin his new adventure in the Premier League.

In the meantime, United have had to secure a work permit, something that is now understood to have been granted.

Diallo has now obtained his Governing Body Endorsements and has just one final round of paperwork to complete before he can fly to England.

Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini is desperate to keep Diallo on loan for the rest of the campaign.

The winger was not part of today’s squad as the Italian side beat Sassuolo 5-1 in Serie A.

Ahead of the match, Gasperini outlined his plan to keep the teenage sensation until the summer.

But he now appears to have conceded defeat as Diallo closes in on his new start at Old Trafford.

Gasperini said: “It’s difficult [to keep Diallo until the end of the season] because Manchester United want him to join the club immediately in January… Amad received his passport.”

United have decided they will block any attempts from Atalanta to keep Diallo on loan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him involved as part of his squad for the second half of the season.

The 18-year-old is expected to train with the first team but looks set to play his football with the under-23s.
