Oasis reunion: Liam Gallagher tweet sparks 2021 reunion rumours as odds slashed | Music | Entertainment

Oasis grew into one of the most iconic British bands of all time from their inception in 1991, all the way into the 2000s. 2009 saw Oasis’ headline slot at the Chelmsford V Festival cancelled due to Liam Gallagher contracting laryngitis. After this cancelled event, Oasis went on to bow out of some other festivals, including the Rock en Seine, and the I-Day Festival.

A short while after, Noel issued a statement announcing he had quit the band.

The statement read: “It is with some sadness and great relief… I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Since then fans have been urging the brothers to put aside their differences and bring the band back together.

Rumours have surfaced over the years suggesting this was in fact in the works, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

In September of 2020 Noel released a documentary detailing how the iconic (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? was recorded and released in 1995.

On the album’s 25-year anniversary Noel returned to Rockfield – the studio where Morning Glory was recorded – where he listened to the album, and praised his brother.

In a clip from the documentary, Noel said: “I listened to that album for the first time today in 25 years, right? I understood it today.”

He continued: “The words. The melodies. Liam’s voice is f*****g on another level on that record.”

Noel went on to add: “There’s nothing around today that even remotely f*****g comes near to it.”

The documentary, titled “Return to Rockfield”, commemorated the band’s most successful album, which sold over 22 million copies worldwide.

In 2010 Morning Glory was awarded the Greatest British Album since 1980 by the Brit Awards.

In 2018 Liam pleaded for Noel to rejoin the band, writing again on Twitter: “Earth to noel listen up rkid I hear your doing gigs where people can’t drink alcohol now that’s the BeZarist thing you’ve done yet I forgive you now let’s get the BIG O back together and stop f*****g about the drinks are on me LG x” (sic)
