Donald Trump impeachment timeline: When will Trump be impeached? | World | News

Insiders believe the first option is unlikely, as Mr Pence has allegedly expressed reluctance to invoke the amendment – which would give him the presidency for the remainder of Mr Trump’s term.

However, in a statement posted yesterday addressed to Washington Democrats, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the lower chamber is still committed to pushing for the 25th amendment.

She said: “I want to call to your immediate attention the action to be taken tomorrow morning, when Majority Leader Hoyer will request Unanimous Consent to bring up the Raskin resolution.

“This resolution calls on the Vice President to convene and mobilise the Cabinet to activate the 25th Amendment to declare the President incapable of executing the duties of his office, after which the Vice President would immediately exercise powers as acting President.”
