Donald Trump news: Former aide claims ex-POTUS ‘much happier’ amid divorce rumours | World | News

Mr Trump vacated the White House on January 20, flying back to his Mar-a-Lago resort with his family while Joe Biden prepared for his presidential inauguration ceremony. The ex-President’s aide and former campaign manager, Jason Miller, told the Sunday Times how the former First Family felt upon leaving the executive residence.

Mr Miller said Mr Trump was “truly relaxed” to have left the top job as “only 45 other people in US history have experienced what it is like to have the world on their shoulders.”

He added: “And to be able to exhale, knowing that it’s not all on you for the first time in four years.”

The former campaign manager explained Mr Trump has been “happier” since his controversial twitter account was permanently suspended.

Mr Trump was banned from tweeting – as well as using other social media platforms – following accusations of “incitement of insurrection” after the storming of Congress on January 6.

Of Mr Trump’s social media ban, Mr Miller said: “He’s said that not being on social media, and not being subject to the hateful echo chamber that social media too frequently becomes, has actually been good.

“That’s something the first lady has backed up as well.

“She has said she loves it, that he’s much happier and is enjoying himself much more.”

But Mr Miller’s claims follow rumours Mr Trump and his wife could soon divorce, which surged after Mr Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

“It can be hard I think for anyone separating to establish themselves as just that person rather than part of a couple – especially if their partner was more high-profile, more outgoing or better-known than them.”

Observing footage from the Inauguration Freedom Ball in 2017, body language expert Bruce Durham said the then-President “looks uncomfortable” as Mrs Trump tries “to guide Donald into having a simple dance”.

He added: “What makes this quite humorous, akin to Fawlty Towers, is that Donald is sublimely unaware that he looks uncomfortable or that he is out of his depth.”
