Dog snow video: Adorable little boy takes pet on a sledge ride in Romania | World | News

Recent blizzards in Romania left the streets thick with snow. Instead of keeping warm indoors like most people, 12-year-old Andrei got creative and found a clever way to take his dog, Pufi, for a walk without the mutt’s paws getting wet.  Andrei attached a sledge to his bike which Pufi could sit on and enjoy the ride. Thanks to Pufi’s fluffy coat, he was also able to keep warm and seemed very happy to be out in the snowy weather.

The adorable video was posted on Facebook and has received almost 800,000 views.

CERT Transylvania, a local non-profit organisation spotted the video and gifted Andrei a brand new bike.

In a sweet Facebook post, the organisation said: “The story of the little boy walking his furry friend with the sledge has surrounded the internet and offered us all a beautiful lesson: Make heaven what you have!

“Today, we gave Andrei a brand new bike equipped with everything he will need for many more years on the road to school or racing with Pufi.”

The organisation also thanked people who had donated money to make this possible.

Purina also lists these winter safety tips for dogs:

  • Gradually acclimate your dog to the cold. Start with short sessions outside and slowly increase so they have time to adjust. If they seem fine and are not shivering or trying to get indoors, it is fine for them to stay outdoors for longer periods.
  • If your dog seems to be cold cover them with a towel or blanket. You can also use a blow dryer on a low setting, but do not heat their paw pads as they could burn.
  • Try to encourage your dog to go to the toilet in areas with more protection from snow, ice and wind.
  • Look out for rock salt and antifreeze as it can be toxic and lead to stomach upset.
  • Once your dog is used to the cold weather, continue walking them and letting them play outside. Exercise is very important to prevent destructive behaviour due to pent-up energy.
