Earlier this week Billie Eilish announced the title, tracklist and release date for her highly anticipated sophomore album, Happier Than Ever. The album’s announcement was followed up with news that her new song would debut this week as well. The track, Your Power, was released overnight and features the 19-year-old delving into some dauntingly emotional territory.
The Your Power video shows Billie in a desert with a large snake draped around her neck.
The lyrics for the song tell an even more slimy story, as she coos: “She was sleeping in your clothes (In your clothes) / But now she’s got to get to class / How dare you? And how could you? / Will you only feel bad when they find out? / If you could take it all back, would you?”
The American singer has now opened up on the exact meaning of the song.
She posted a clip of the music video on her Instagram account with the caption: “Your Power song and video out now. This is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written.” (sic)
Your Power follows my future and Therefore I Am, the latter of which went platinum in Australia and Canada earlier this year.
Billie announced the new album will be released on July 30, 2021.
This date is particularly special for the singer as it holds a strong connection to her brother and musical partner, Finneas O’Connell.
Finneas is the other half of the Billie Eilish act. The DJ and producer creates the music for the young star and records everything alongside her.
July 30, 2021 is significant to Finneas as it will be his 24th birthday.
This is certainly no accident for Billie, who has previously confessed her brother is her best friend.
Billie Eilish – Happier Than Ever is due for release on July 30, 2021.
