Chris Eubank Jr paid tribute to his late brother Sebastian in a heartbreaking series of Twitter posts on Saturday morning. Sebastian Eubank was found dead in Dubai where he lived, just days before his 30th birthday.
The son of British middleweight legend Eubank Snr, a boxer himself with two professional victories on his record, was reportedly found lifeless on a beach after drowning.
He is the third eldest of Eubank Sr’s five children and had only had a son of his own named Raheem a month ago with his wife Salma. His brother has vowed to look after Raheem as if he was his own son.
In several heartbreaking messages, Chris Eubank Jr, 31, said: “Rest easy little brother. I love you & you will be missed always @SebEubank.
“My brother Sebastian Eubank was a special man… a righteous man… who always put others before himself.
“A man of many talents, boxing, MMA, poetry, music, coaching, cooking the list goes on but the most important thing to him was helping others less fortunate than himself.
“I haven’t cried since I was 12 years old… yesterday I cried the whole day. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to watch your back like a big brother’s supposed to.
“Can’t believe you’re really gone man but you’ll always be in my heart, mind & spirit.
“Now your legacy will live on through your beautiful new born son & I will treat him like my own. Watch over us until we meet again young lion.
“And to everyone out there reading this right now DON’T take ANY of your loved ones for granted.
“See them, speak to them, check up on them as much as you possibly can because you just never know if that one time will be the last time. Love you bro.”
Sebastian’s father Eubank Snr said of his son’s passing: “Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son.
“My family and I are devastated to hear of the death of Sebastian just days before what would have been his 30th birthday.
“He leaves his wife Salma, his son Raheem born just a month ago, his mother Karron Meadows, brothers Nathanael, Chris Jr, Joseph, one sister Emily and countless relatives and friends.
“Sebastian grew up in Hove in England but in the last few years made his life in Dubai where he had a wide circle of friends and was a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies.
“As well as being a personal trainer and professional boxer, Sebastian was also a deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.
“He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family.
“As a family, we now kindly ask to be given space and privacy to celebrate his life and remember the son, the brother, the husband, the friend.”
Sebastian’s mother Karron Meadows meanwhile said: “Our whole family is grieving at the huge loss of our son and brother, Sebastian.
“Please respect our grief and privacy while we try to comprehend our loss.”
And Sebastian’s promoters, Kalle and Nisse Sauerland, wrote on social media: “We had the honour of promoting Sebastian Eubank.
“He was simply a true gentleman and a sincere human being who lighted up a room when he walked in.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.”
Light-heavyweight Sebastian had defeated Poland’s Kamil Kulczyk in his debut boxing fight back in February 2018, on the same card headlined by brother Chris who fought against George Groves.
He also made his debut in MMA last year as he defeated Emad Hanbali in Dubai technical knockout in the first round.
