Elvis Presley dated many women over his 42 years, but he only married one. The King first met his future wife Priscilla Presley when she was just 14 during his army service in West Germany. She would later move into Graceland and the couple married in Las Vegas in 1967, when Elvis was 32 and Priscilla was 21.
During their six-year marriage, the couple had Elvis’ only child Lisa Marie nine months to the day after their wedding night.
And while Priscilla looks back fondly at her romance with the music icon, she admits she would get nervous about leaving him on his own.
After all, Elvis had constant attention from countless female fans wherever he went.
Speaking with People, the 76-year-old said: “My God, I had to learn everything.”
Priscilla continued: “Women gravitated to him, so I would be nervous when he had to go places alone.
“I would even go with him to get his teeth cleaned! I always had an eye on him because everyone in the world was after him.”
When she first met Elvis as a teenager she knew she “had to keep him”, adding: “I wanted to go places with him. I would cry if I couldn’t be around him.”
During their marriage, Priscilla shared how she was always ready to greet him at the door of Graceland to “pamper him”.
In a recent Instagram post, Linda remembered how “Elvis and I spoke to each other in our own unique language…inane baby talk.”
Some of the words that began with Gladys included Iddytream, which meant ice cream. While milk was called butch and sooties were feet.
Linda amicably broke up with Elvis around Christmas 1976, wanting to have a more normal life.
The King’s final girlfriend was Ginger Alden, who lived with Elvis at Graceland until his death in August 1977, when she discovered his body after a fatal heart attack.
