Annabel Croft fearing for Emma Raducanu tennis team making next move | Tennis | Sport

Former professional British tennis player Annabel Croft has expressed fear for Emma Raducanu after the teenage tennis star became the first qualifier in history to win a Grand Slam in the US Open Tennis Championships. Following her sudden withdrawal from Wimbledon earlier this summer, Raducanu wowed the world with her skills as she secured a victory without dropping a set. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Annabel Croft said: “Oh my goodness, they will be utterly smashed with requests.

“I mean everybody will want a piece of her and she seems to be so incredibly mature about everything, even the way she speaks and the way she handles the press.

“And I think she’s incredibly natural, and I think they’ll want to keep lots of that because that naturalness is just so appealing.

“She seems to be a wonderful communicator a little bit like Roger Federer who was always such a great communicator with his fans because every time he speaks, he’s definitely speaking to his fans.“So I think they’ll want to definitely try to keep that.” READ MORE: Saying what Boris is saying! She went on: “I would say, I hope they don’t train her too much because, she’s got it all but you know, for her life has changed overnight.

“Whereas before maybe when she had time off, she might have been able to go shopping with her girlfriends. Go out to the food shops or clothes shops or whatever.

I imagine that’s going to be very very difficult.

“She’ll get recognised wherever she is. And I think, on top of that, it’s about getting that balance right, isn’t it?”

She continued: “Between having fun and doing some photoshoots.

“And then maybe keeping the head down like Maria Sharapova always said that ‘she always wanted to be a tennis player first and not a fashion model’.

“So it’s sort of it’s getting that balance right but I just feel she’s so intelligent. Nobody really needs to give her too much advice.

“I think she’ll she’ll know all the answers herself.”
