The good news for everyone this weekend is that the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta is starting across all platforms.
That means if you play on PlayStation, Xbox or PC platforms, you can download and join in on the multiplayer action.
For those that might have missed its announcement, Call of Duty Vanguard is the next COD game scheduled for launch.
It will arrive later in 2021 and will be focused around WW2, including the most well-known theatres of war.
This week will see developers Sledgehammer Games release the Call of Duty Vanguard beta, a version of the game that is still in testing.
Gamers on PlayStation platforms will be able to jump in first via the open beta route, alongside Xbox and PC pre-order customers.
And after this initial period ends, the full Call of Duty Vanguard open beta will begin, complete with full access for everyone.
According to Sledgehammer Games, all of the core content from the first closed beta will be included.
This means the Champion Hill experience and Patrol, Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed on Hotel Royal, Red Star, and Gavutu.
This being Week Two, Sledgehammer will be adding new stuff, including Search & Destroy and the Eagle’s Nest map, that can be played across all five core modes.
WHAT IS THE VANGUARD OPEN BETA RELEASE DATE?
The Call of Duty Vanguard open beta starts on PS4 and PS5 on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
Gamers on Xbox and PC platforms who have pre-ordered the game will be able to login on this day too.
The Open Beta start time has been set for 6pm BST and will run until September 20, 2021.
The rest of Vanguard’s Beta period – expected to last from Saturday, September 18 at 10 AM PT to Monday, September 20 at 10 AM PT – will be accessible to all players across all platforms.
No pre-order is required for this Open Beta period – furthermore, for Xbox Series X and S along with Xbox One owners, Xbox Live Gold is not required for this part of the Beta.
As the name suggests, crossplay will be active through the Beta’s second weekend, allowing you to play with friends so long as you have each other’s Activision IDs to party up across platforms.
At the beginning of this open beta period on September 18, two more featured playlists will become available: a Solos version of Champion Hill and a 24/7 Team Deathmatch playlist on Royal Hotel and Eagle’s Nest with Combat Pacing set to Blitz.
It’s a bit complicated, but the best part is that everyone can join in on September 18 and play until September 20.
Those who participate in the Beta and reach level 20 will receive two rewards:
- A Weapon Blueprint for Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone, available in Vanguard following the game’s launch on November 5 and in Warzone when the new main map launches later this year.
- An Arthur Kingsley Operator in Call of Duty: Mobile, available shortly after the end of the Beta.
