US president Joe Biden has stumbled on his words again at a press conference, during which he mispronounced the name Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach Mario Cordero. The US leader has been heavily criticised for his fragrant gaffes, with opponents believing he needs to sit a cognitive test to prove his sound of mind. President Biden has been very outspoken about his struggle with stammering which in the past has caused him some issues when delivering speeches.

In the footage shared on Sky News, President Biden is seen speaking at a press conference.

He said: “I’m joined by the executive directors of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Gene Seroka and Merrier… Mario Cardona.

“I apologise, Mario.

“And the President of International Longshoreman’s Union, Willie Adams.”

“The US President was speaking on supply chain issues when he stumbled on words and mispronounced names including the executive director of the Port of Long Beach, Mario Cordero.

“Biden apologised for mispronouncing Mr Cordero’s name.

“He continued on stumbling before walking out and failing to answer any questions from reporters again.”

The presenter continued: “The stumbling on words had social media talking.

“One person wrote, ‘The really sad part about this is that it’s completely normal and expected Joe Biden at this point’.

“Another said ‘with Biden stumbling and bumbling and frequent crazy gaffes in public, you can’t help but wonder what’s going on behind the scenes in the Oval Office’.

“Finally, ‘Biden is a mess. Stumbling words from the get-go’.”

The 78-year-old president often stumbles on words during speeches because of his stammer.

On his stutter, last year he said: “I still occasionally when I find myself really tired, struggle with my stutter.”

An estimated one percent of the global population has a stutter, with the rate growing as much as five percent among children.
