Donald Trump launches new social media TRUTH to ‘stand up’ to lifelong Twitter ban | World | News

The 45th US President has said he plans on sharing his thoughts with the world through a new social network and is launching the new platform to “stand up to the tyranny of big tech”. Mr Trump, 75, states that he is launching his new social media, titled TRUTH Social, after “your favourite president has been silenced”.

The former President also announced he will be forming a new company called Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

Announcing his new media platform he said: “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.

“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon.

“TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all.

In comparison, Facebook has a market capitalization of £700billion.

The former President was barred from Facebook and Twitter following the storming of the US Capitol on January 6.

Following the announcement President Joe Biden had won the presidential election, Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington DC, leaving four dead.

The businessman and former President is banned from using Twitter for life, but his Facebook ban will last two years.

In May, Mr Trump launched a blog titled “From The Desk of Donald J Trump”, but in less than a month it was taken down.
